Pastor Cliff Rapp
Senior Pastor for the English language congregation

 

Cliff is a native Californian, born in Santa Monica and raised in West Los Angeles. He became a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ while serving in the U.S. military. Cliff and Linda, his wife, live with Aaron and Eden, their two children, in Torrance. Aaron attends Torrance West High and Eden is being home schooled.

 

Pastor Cliff has served with JEMS as a campus worker on two campuses for the Asian-American Christian Fellowship. He has been an adjunct professor at Biola University and a professor Chafer Theological Seminary. He has written for the Chafer Theological Journal and contributed to three books. He has helped to start several non-profit organizations and has been senior pastor of three churches. Cliff loves serving our Lord Jesus in the church and is grateful for the opportunity to minister at South Bay.

 

Pastor Cliff enjoys time with family, reading and playing chess. Golf is his next recreational challenge. He is a graduate of West Los Angeles College, Biola University and Dallas Theological Seminary.at

 

Pastor Ray Narusawa
Retired Minister serving as Minister to Senior Adults

Pastor Ray is a retired minister currently serving as Minister to the Senior Adults.

He is originally from Wahiawa on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.  He lives in Torrance with his wife of 42 years, Ryoko Joy.  They have three children: Borden, Lois and Gary and also have two grandchildren: Kayla, 11 and Daniel, 9.

Pastor Ray served as Home Secretary of Japanese Evangelical Missionary Socitey (JEMS) from 1957 to 1959.  He served in various Free Methodist churches from 1959 until his retirement in 1993.  He also served as a missionary to Brazil under JEMS from 1964 to 1979.  In his first ten years he served through the Japanese Evangelical Federation (Federacao Evangelica Japonesa) of Brazil in cooperation with the Japanese Holiness churches, Japanese Episcopal churches, Free Methodist churches, Baptist, Lutheran and other churches.  In the final four and a half years he worked together with the Nikkei Free Methodist churches of Brazil.  He made his home in Sao Paulo city.

He is a graduate of Leilehua High School (1946), Seattle Pacific University (1952), Berkeley Baptist Divinity School (1958)

Pastor Ray also leads a home town group that meets regularly, four times a year together with a Planning Committee of 10 members.  It's called Wahiawa--Leilehua Aikane group.  Also, together with his wife Ryoko, he enjoys getting together with family.

Rev. Nobuo Kawahara
Senior Pastor - Japanese Congregation

Graduated from Osaka Christian College and Seminary in 1986 with a B.Th.  Graduated from Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, OR in 1988 with M.A.  Became the pastor at Fort Lee Japanese Christian in New York Conference in 1988 and was ordained as an Elder in 1993 Transferred from N.Y. Conference to PCJC (Pacific Coast Japanese Conference) in 1999 and has been the Japanese speaking pastor at South Bay Free Methodist Church since then.

Rev. Kawahara has a Wife, Hisayo and two daughters, Maria and Melody.
